I often wonder if I am on the right path… creatively, spiritually, or with my career and relationships. I like to think of myself as going up, even when it’s clear, that I am sometimes careening downward straight into whatever is below me.
So, I thought I’d share some photos of stairways that I have come upon in my travels. Those engineering marvels that support us and provide a path to take us higher than we could ever get on our own.
They come in all shapes and sizes, long, short, winding or straight, made from a myriad of materials, old and new. Stairways often lead to unexpected destinations but most often getting us exactly where we want to be exactly when we need to be there.
Stairways remind us of the connectivity of things in the Universe and how basic and important that connectivity is for our survival. Next time you are taking the stairs, try imagining your life without them. Even if it’s just the four or five steps that lead to the front door of the place you call home.
I, for one, am in gratitude for stairways and the people who came before me possessing the forethought and fortitude necessary for building, climbing, desending and paving the way.
Nameste and happy climbing.
