Recently I started using Instagram on my cell phone. It took me a while because I have an Android and I thought that Instagram was only for iPhoners. So one day I was taking the really long “el” train ride into the city for traffic court (long story… okay, maybe not that long ) and I discovered the app in Google Play just waitin’ for a download. As it turns out, Instagram for Android is pretty awesom. Oh, I am sure it doesn’t do as much as it does for iPhone, but I’ll never miss it because I’ve never had an iPhone.
Lately I have been wanting to use more photos from my phone for this blog. Don’t get me wrong, I love my camera, but when I am not out sightseeing I rarely have it with me. For most of my global life I am out shopping locally at some little shop in chinatown or popping into an Indian eatery for paneer and curry, meanwhile my big heavy camera is at home on hiatus. The problem is my camera phone does not take terribly great pics and unfortunately Instagram was installed on my old phone, not my new one.
So about five days ago my day finally slows down long enough that one or two of the things on my to-do list could get a little face time and I sucessfully installed Instagram onto my new phone. YAY! But then, I could not rememeber my Instagram password or my user ID… *&%#*! I tried everything, but no lucky. Until, a full two days later, it occurs to me to charge up my perfectly working old phone which still connects to wifi and log in to my Instagram profile with it. Perfect!
Finally, I have Instagram on my new phone. So this weekend, I am out at World Market shopping and taking pics like a some kind of crazy Ansel Adams only to get home and find that the Instagram plugin won’t work on my “free” wordpress blog… *%*($#*&#@!!!!! Go figure. I am planning to migrate to wordpress.org and paid hosting during my two week semester break in May. Until then, I will be using the old Microsoft Snipping Tool work-around, which has become the best friend of an technologically challenged analog girl like me trying to survive in this digital jungle that we live in. I would post a button to follow me on Instragram, but as usual, I haven’t figured that out yet.
More to come on the amazing, amazing finds that I spotted in World Market later this week.
Oh, if you happen to have any Instagram tips to share, feel free to share.
