Oh For The Love Of Chocolate!

Are you a jetsetter obsessed with Chocolate? Luckily, you are not alone. Designer Karl Lagerfeld created this ALL chocolate hotel suite with the help of Chocolatier Patrick Roger. The chocolate super-duo reportedly used more than 10 tons of Magnum Chocolate for a 2011 promotion at La Reserve Hotel in Paris, France.   The Chocolate Boutique Hotel in Dorset is run by British choco-preneurs Gerry and Roo. Along with their chocolate fountain rental, cocoa centric corporate team building, and truffle making...

Eataly Chicago: The Epcot Center of Italian Foodie Markets

EATALY-MEATS-2

I adore Italian food and could spend an entire day watching those cooking shows featuring chefs of Italian cuisine whipping up their Molto Magic. When I heard that celebrity chefs Lidia Bastianich and Mario Batali recently teamed up to bring their signature Eataly market to Chicago, I had to check it out. Eataly Chicago is 63,000 square feet of artisanal cheeses, meats, pastas, sweets, olive oils, wines, cookbooks, utensils and more. Located on Ohio Street in downtown Chicago, the concept...

Have you meet Rufus … and his Moroccan Chicken?

Rufus’ Food and Spirits Guide is one of my favorite go-to places to get amazing ideas and delicious recipes for meals and drinks. “Rufus” is the blog name of cooking/mixology super duo, Greg and Katherine, a couple with an annoying knack for making even the most difficult recipe seem easy. I say seem easy because, after months of trying, I have yet to master the wobbly legs technique on a perfectly cooked whole baked chicken. But, we can’t hold the Rufus guide accountable for my culinary...

I'm so lucky! Its a Christmas Candy Overload.

There’s nothing like a trip to World Market to make me feel like a candy chompin’ kid again. It’s so cold out, plus its finals week, so I have been hunkering down with some of my Christmas favs from Germany. I used to love receiving a chocolate Advent calendar every year before Christmas. Most of the calendars that you buy start on December 1st, just to make it easy, and count down to December 25th. With every day, you patiently...

Sipping Japanese Choya in the Park

choya

It’s so awesome to finally begin to have a taste of spring outside! On my recent trip to World Market–my favorite store, of course– I was pleased to find that they have an alluring array of picnic-sized eats and drinks from all over the globe. And I do love eats and drinks! There among a bevy of dried Spanish chorizo, German cookies, French jams and bellinis were these lovely little bottles of Japanese Choya Wine with a bonus plum inside....

Perfect Patra

Patra is an amazing savory pinwheel snack of India made by rolling a spicy ground dal (chickpea) paste infused with cummin and tummeric into taro leaves. There are all kinds of other ingredients as well, such as coconut, garlic, mustard and sesame seeds, cilantro and lime. My favorite global food guru Ruth Reichl does a splendid job of explaining the slightly labor intensive process of preparing this wonderful dish on her show Adventures With Ruth. So inspired was I by her episode on Indian cuisine, that I found myself in my local Patel Bros. Market...
